Multi-Agency Search In Annapolis County
For Two Missing Ice Fishers
RCMP News Release, March 11th, 2026:
On March 10th at approximately 11:30 p.m., Annapolis District RCMP and fire services responded to a report regarding two elderly men, ages 73 and 77, who had failed to return from ice fishing near Little Brook Lane.
Overnight, RCMP remotely piloted aircraft system operators and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre carried out aerial searches, while fire services conducted water-based searches.
Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue, Digby Ground Search and Rescue, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), and the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources have been deployed.
During the afternoon of March 11th, the body of one of the missing men was recovered. The search for the second individual remains ongoing. Residents are advised to avoid the immediate area and to stay off the ice.
Organizations such as the
Digby Ground Search and Rescue and the Annapolis Ground Search and Rescue are dedicated volunteers that continue to make a difference in the communities they faithfully serve. Both teams convene for monthly meetings and spend many evenings and weekends training and conducting practice drills.
